The
Neighborhood Christian Center nurtures at-risk children and
youth with the truth of the Gospel and equips with them with
academic and life skills to prepare them for adulthood.
We aim to provide positive role models by utilizing area
volunteers and coordinating with other local agencies to create
a mutually beneficial relationship between the
participants and their community.
We equip these volunteers with the opportunities to serve
as positive role models in an atmosphere that
encourages cross-cultural learning and a place where both
student and teacher are constantly learning from one another.
NCC is unique because it strives to partner with its
community to provide a
holistic approach to its programs through offering both
spiritual and
practical services.
We believe that by this approach we are encouraging adults to
work towards solutions to their problems and are giving children
the tools to finish school successfully and become leaders in
their own communities.
The
Neighborhood Christian Center believes that education as well as
sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ increases self-sufficiency in
our students, equipping disadvantaged children in the inner city
of Jackson with the tools to rise above their circumstances and
become successful adults.
We do this all year long through offering: after-school tutoring, summer
academic enrichment programs and through providing instruction
for children in the visual and
performing arts.
Mission:
To develop a relationship with our neighbors in need,
allowing for an effective presentation of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ and an opportunity to give our neighbors a spiritual as
well as a practical foundation on which they can build their
lives.
